Should the amount we spend on them still be equal?

I go by the number verse the price.

Mine is not equal at all. I spent much more on my college son than I did on the others. Just worked out that way this year.

We make it equal.

But it seems the adults get more expensive stuff but less in quantity and the children get more in quantity and less in price. It evens out somehow...everyone is happy...I guess :/

I only have one. What I spend on him each year varies on what he wants .

We get it as equal as possible. However that's sometimes $20-30 off.

Whatever makes sense to you.

I know that we tend to spend more on the older kids because their interests tend to be more expensive.

My mom had the three of us so spread out that she never spent the same amount, but did the same # of gifts. If I remember right that stopped when my older brothers hit 18 respectively, and they each got 1-2 nice gifts while I was still getting 5-10.

I'll probably do something similar with my own kids.

yes.  I spend the same on all kids-grown and minor.  The number of presents varies based on what each person wants and the price I set as a limit.
