I was gifted a large amount of money from an acquaintance, really this was a friend I worked with for years. It was over $10k. He really wasn't fond of me accepting but I did anyway. I want to share the wealth, but he was so against me accepting the money. I'm starting to feel guilty

So I told my husband but I didn't tell him 10,000, I told him $2000 and he blew a gasket. I had to lie and tell him the money was from a female. I'm not telling him about the rest of the money

That's not a large amount of money. Try again.

If there were no strings attached, and the acquaintance gave it to you as a gift I don't see a problem. I don't see why your Dh would be upset? Mine wouldn't have cared weather way. It was a gift. To answer your question though, yes I'd tell him. If he doesn't like it he doesn't have to have it use it. Spend it on your kids if you have any, or some put away for college. Repair broken things.

For some people to receive 25K as a gift isn't alot of money. I know that getting what she got for a gift is alot of money for my family.

Of course I would tell my husband. Why is this acquaintance giving you $10K? I can't imagine turning down thousands of dollars, or my husband being upset about it.

I am sorry but $10,000 is a lot of money for an "acquaintance" to give you, married or not! I can see why your husband would be skeptical.

There always has to be one. One person who says whatever amount mentioned isn't a lot of money.
