Hi, new group member from Sweden

Hi, I'm Bibbi from Sweden.

Rapidly approaching the big 65. Mom - 3 grownup kids, grandmom - 3 grandkids, step grandmom - 8 step grandkids and step great grandmom - 1 step great granddaughter. 

Took early retirement 4 years ago and haven't regretted a minute.

Disabled, blind and double above knee leg amputee, but I don't let it slow me down. I get around totally unaided using prosthetic legs and a white cane

More about me

1. Name: Birgitta better known as Bibbi

2. Age: 65 on February 12

3. Marital status: Happily married for 43 years

4. Where do I live - Sweden

5. Family: 3 grown uo children. Daughter 38, daughter 36, son 32. Grandchildren. Boy 8, boy 4, girl born Christmas Eve 2016. Eight stepgrandchildren, one step great granddaughter

6. I'm totally blind. Lost both eyes to cancer when I was a child and have "glass" eyes

7. Double above knee amputee after an accident 40 years ago.

8. Walk with prosthetic legs. 

9. Read and write braille in Swedish and English.

10. Smoker. Have been since I was 11.

Welcome!  I have had an opportunity to visit Sweden several times and it's a beautiful country.  My father is from Denmark (Bornholm) so I have lots of family over there and go visit about every 5 years or so.  I only post Anon in this group but just wanted to say hello.

There are technical aids for people with sight loss. Things like voice recognition software, screen readers and refreshable braille transcribers allow us to work on computers and navigate pages like this.
