So I'm a manager at a local mcdonalds and I have an employee that is sarcastic.
Well I ordered a mcchicken extra mayo on my break he made a joke about spreading it around with his fingers and I said don't that's gross. Well he went ahead and did and I yelled at him and told him to throw it out and make me a new one.

Of course everyone thinks it's funny as hell.
Am I wrong or is that gross?
My logic is you wouldn't do it to a customer or even our store manager so why do it to me?

He should at least be written up if not fired.

Yeah, that's gross and disturbing. That's not just sarcasm. He's contaminating the food goofing off like that.
You're the manager. Fire his ass and use him to set an example for the other employees that that won't be tolerated.

I left restaurant management after a change in ownership a few months back. Employees act that way because it is accepted, nothing else. While I firmly believe in being respectful towards employees, a healthy level of fear isn't a bad thing. Show them that standards must be maintained, they will oblige. I'm a big fan of sending someone home for the remainder of the work week. It's amazing what hitting someone's bank account can do.

I don't have power to fire but I think I will write him up for unsanitary practices as others suggested. I for some reason couldn't think of what to write him up for.

He needs to be fired. It's neither funny nor sanitary and he just wasted product on a dumb prank.

well since i am- i would have his butt in the office the next time he comes in, here is he write up.   the next time it happens to you or anyone else regardless if they work there, will be another write up. third one- you are gone. however if he has been a awful employee-it would be gone.
