Get a solid state hard-drive and a good processor.

my solid state allows my computer to turn on from cold off to windows desktop in around 6 seconds flat.

What are you doing specifically? That makes a difference in what you need to be fast.

But yo, OP, my PC was around 850 and would've been 2100 easy if bought prebuilt at like BestBuy. --Build your parts on NewEgg and assemble yourself to save a bunch of money.

I'm a photographer and do some design work too.

Go with a gaming computer with a lot of ram and a really good graphics card. A solid state hard drive is good too.

Do not buy one that is already put together. Find someone that knows what they are doing and have them build you one piece by piece. My dh built both our computers and they are better then anything that you will find in any store or website.
