In your opinion what do you feel is the best career to go to college for? What is the best degree out there right now to get?

And why?!

Nursing, it is in high demand. I wish I could deal with needles and blood, I would do it in a heartbeat.

If I was starting over right now, I'd probably be Pharmacist.

I actually went for accounting, and that's worked out well.

Software engineering (NOT network or IT, those jobs pay very little).

There are a few fields that could be considered best and all lie within medical, engineering, and technology. Other offer great job security but less pay such as teaching.
I'm in school for engineering now. From what I've looked at I have chosen a very diverse field that offers great pay and has a great outlook as far as job availability. However thousands of engineers graduate every year so already I need to consider getting a master's and that's where I hope the diversity of the degree helps me.

What are the interests of the individual?  You won't do well in a field unless you want to do that kind of work.  Undergrads are meant to test the waters and find out what they are interested in.  College is about education for education's sake.  Later on grad school is what really prepares you for your career.

Amen.

That is why I am on the back-end. I only have to read about the needles & the blood in the charts. (:
