Rituals

Do you have rituals for morning or night?

I've decided I need to change mine. I'm going to try getting up a little early and practicing yoga or meditation or light exercise in the morning. I wonder how long it will take for a new ritual to seem like a normal routine.

What are your rituals?

it takes 28 days to adjust to a new daily ritual. It will be the norm for you by April. Good luck.

That's the rituals I have now. I need something more...better.. To get out of this rut.

1 mom liked this

Yes at night once I've gotten ready for bed, I pray.  It works for me. I reflect on my day. I think about things I could improve on, things I am proud I accomplished. I thank God for giving me each day he does and for watching over me and mine. I pray that the following morning I wake up and make better use of my day.

Yup.

Before I get out of bed I do 5 4-square breaths and imagine my best day

(I found if I don't do it in bed, my morning is busy and I don't get it done in the am)

I drink my 1st cup of coffee logging what I ate and exercised yesterday on DailyPlate (trying to lose 15 lb)

I lift weights for 5-10 minutes, alternating days between legs and arms

I do some number of minutes on the treadmill at about 5% incline at about 3mph (while cafemoming)

I do a 5-10 minute HIIT exercise from YouTube.

(I found my interest in exercising is highest first thing in the morning after coffee)

Shower and go to work!

My DH's routine is to take the dogs for a walk before anything else in the morning (so he won't procrastinate and then end up not doing it) and then he does push-ups/situps/stretches before stepping into the shower.
