Problem is, I'm current on student loan payments. I even called the student loan people they said I was current and I'm paid through June. Now im just annoyed.

You'll get it back when it's straightened out, just chill

That always happened to my husband, he was current on loans and yet they took his tax refunds to apply towards them, too.

It pays down the principal, though. So it'll take less time to pay them off.

If you were ever in default they have not removed the lien. You need to have them notify the IRS to have it removed.

It's frustrating. I was going to use some of that money to fund a camping trip for my cousins kids at a national park, the rest was going towards car repairs and the rest going to savings so I can go back to school so I don't have to take out more student loans.

I'll get started Monday. Any idea how long it will take to get my money back?

It's standard practice if you've ever been in default.

That happened to me last year, wasn't my fault but shit happens. It's not even worth the fight, my accountant told me there was no way I was getting it back, once the Feds take it, it's done. You can try though.
