I have a program to write that I am not sure how to begin.  This is the assignment:

Design a class named largeIntegers such that an object of this class can store any number of digits.  Add operations to add, subtract, multiply, and compare integers stored in two objects and overload the corresponding operators. You should also have functions to set, retrieve, and print the objects.

We have spent some time discussing how to overload functions.  So that part I think I can handle... if I can get to it. I need to figure out how to store the number in the first place.  We are not allowed to use vectors, so presumably I will need to use an array.

Any advice please?

I have no idea what the hell you're talking about but here's a bump for someone who is smarter than me.

Any advice please?

Download the libraries others have already written to do this, and study their solutions.
