Would it be mean to tell him to take a shower

My son friend is over spending the night. He is 15. Tomorrow is DS 14 birthday. Well, Monday is but we are doing something tomorrow. His friend has bad BO. They were sitting at the kitchen table eating, I walked by to get in the fridge and I could smell him bad. Last week was spring break. My guess he probably hasn't showered all week. Or least he smell like he hasn't. Would it be mean to tell him to get a shower.

He stinks. There is no way to put it nicely.

I would walk by and say "Don't forget, everyone needs to shower before bed" that way your not just calling him out on it.

Nope. I'd say "okay. 'Friend' take a shower. Ds, you're next." This way it doesn't seem harsh.

Yeah make him shower.

My husband used to have to make his grown men shower in the army.

I would say something. You don't have to be mean, just tell your son to shower and include the friend as though it's an afterthought. Say something like "Hey DS, get your butt in the shower, and don't use all the hot water for your friend can get a shower too."

If it doesn't work, then would be the time to get blunt about him needing to shower.

I agree with most of the others. Tell both him and your son to get a shower, that way he's not being singled out.
