I wish I knew what made me so paranoid

At home I get really scared over small noises by doors or windows. I check the locks on them all the time. Sometimes I put like a "trap" or tape on the doors and windows. I'm in fear a lot that something bad will happen. In public I fear getting kidnapped, shot or a car accident. I hide it very very well so no one notices.

How disgusting. Pop a pill. Everything will magically be better!

Therapy could help you a lot, some of that awareness is rational, some is over that line. I wouldn't jump to meds.

Let me guess, you're paranoid about meds too?

I did. That's why I suggested anxiety medication.

It's not normal to make traps for your door because you are so paranoid. That's not healthy.

You may need something more intensive, like an exposure/desensitization type therapy, or a different therapist. Maybe try a small dose of a med, and see if it helps without negative effects, even if it's temporary. Many people are paranoid of meds, but if they actually give them a chance to work and balance out they can be great tools.
