Depends on what you mean by active. She lives four hours away but we talk and FaceTime frequently.

She did when I had my first. By the time I had my second she was losing her memory. When I had my third she had no clue who I was. She died last year from Alzheimer's.

My MIL hasn't seen my kids in 7 years.

Nope. Even before I cut her out of our lives she wasn't allowed around my son.without me.

She is toxic and mentally and emotionally abusive.

My mother is a narcissist with borderline personality disorder who spent my entire life trying to destroy me physically and emotionally so no, she doesn't get to fuck my kids up.

In her head, yes she's the best. In reality she's very much like the mother I grew up with. *Sigh she means well at least.
