Too early?

I don't think so. My 4 and 7 year olds go to bed at 7:30. They're probably asleep by 8. I have to wake them at 4:30am two days one week and three days the next. 6:30am on the other days. On those nights they might get another half hour awake in the evening. My brother thinks it's insanely early and I'm getting in the way of "other activities." I don't feel like there's much choice. They go back to sleep for a little while at daycare but both have school. They get maybe an hour more sleep over there.

I don't think so. My 3 and 4 year olds go to bed at 7:30. They wake up in their own at 6:30/7. Even when they go to bed super late they still wake up at that time. My 10 and 13 year olds go to bed at 9:30.

I'd be more lenient if our wake time wasn't so darn early but it's just the way it is.

Why are they up at 4:30?

With getting up at 4:30 that actually isn't early enough for bed time. The 4 year old isn't getting enough sleep at night.

I have to drop them off at daycare at 5:10 on the 2 or 3 weekdays I work.

You're probably right. It just seems like there aren't enough hours in the darn day sometimes.

As long as you're spending enough time with them in the evenings I can see why they go to bed so early then.

My kids go to bed at 7:30pm and wake naturally usually 7:30-8am. They are 3,6,& 7. Kids need more sleep. Sleep is very important to good health and comes before activities.
