Taking ex to court...

to change the custody. I have a consultation tomorrow with my lawyer. My question is can I pick when I want to file this, or is it just dive in after the consultation. And if we go ahead, I'm sure the judge will do the common thing now that father's day weekend will go to dad. I have a big family trip that weekend and my ex doesn't care cause it's free time for him. But it's going to get so much more complicated after this. I don't want the kids to miss out on this trip they are so excited about because of his ego.

You can pick to a point. You can tell your lawyer when you want them to file it. Like wait a month, wait a week, etc. It may take months to get a date set. This won't be resolved by Father's Day, I can almost guarantee you that.

Waiting a month would be great. File the day after we get back.
