Dear Trump: I’m Glad Kathy Griffin Scarred Your Children.

Dear Trump,

I thought you should know the first thought I had when you tweeted about your kids’ reaction to Kathy Griffin’s picture holding your (fake) severed head. I was disgusted. But not by what she did. I was disgusted by you. Over the day, I became even more disgusted with you. And as a citizen of this country, you need to know that.

This morning, I woke up to learn that at least 80 innocent men, women, and children were slaughtered, and hundreds more injured in Afghanistan.

It was one of the most vicious bomb attacks ever in Afghanistan. The kind that at a minimum should bring out the “thoughts and prayers” of anyone with a shred of decency. Did you tweet about it at all today? Nope. Twitter is, after all, your self-described official mouthpiece to give Americans “the real story.” So what was newsworthy, according to Trump?

Another dig at Hillary Clinton.  Another promise to announce your decision on pulling out of the Paris climate accords.  Another push to get the Senate to approvethe House’s abysmal healthcare bill. Another nonsense claim that the Russia investigation is a witch hunt. Are you sensing a theme here? It’s all stuff we heard before.

You also got your staff to write up some fluff about how proud you were to meet yet another head of state, and a gratuitous recap of your first trip abroad. Yep, those sure were a lot more important than acknowledging real news. You do know 11 of those wounded in Afghanistan today are Americans, right? Or did you miss that part on Fox and Friends?

The proverbial straw on this camel’s back was that you had the audacity to invoke the suffering of your kids.

Did you worry at all about what your kids would think when you spouted off about grabbing women by the p*ssy? Every time you denigrated or objectified a woman? Every time you bullied or insulted someone. Every time you incited hate and violence. Your kids were often there to see it. That wasn’t sick? And while we’re on the subject of cherry picking, Barron doesn’t have a hard time with his naked mommy plastered over the internet?

Your hateful rhetoric is affecting all our kids. I have three of my own. The oldest is almost ten. What about them? My kids worry that they will be attacked for being Jewish. I never mentioned it or talked about it at home; they picked it up from other kids with the same worry at their school. Is that what kids should be talking about at school? But I have it easy. We are white and middle class.

What about the children who get harassed and attacked as the result of your anti-Muslim rhetoric and policies? The Latino kids who get called rapists. The Muslim kids who are called terrorists. The black kids who watch their parent’s murders played millions of times on TV. What does it say to the children in this country that it took you over a year to denounce all the violence that you helped spawn?

What about the kids who go to bed every night terrified that their mommy and daddy won’t be there the next morning, because of your anti-immigration policies?

What about the kids who will lose their health insurance under the new plan you are peddling? You know, the ones whose lives depend on it?

So I’m glad your kids are having a hard time dealing with Kathy Griffin’s tweet.

You’ve acted atrociously for years. And you’ve never shown one inkling of remorse for the collateral damage. But then one person puts out a tasteless image, and suddenly you’re shocked and your kids are hurting? Good. You should spend some more time experiencing what it’s like to be on the receiving end.

And you know what else? Kathy Griffin apologized. I’ve never heard an honest apology from you. A lot of rationalizations and excuses and blame and attacking, but never an honest, humble apology. So after a lifetime of stepping all over others, you want pity because you got the shoe? No way.

A little empathy would do you a world of good. Especially considering that you are the so-called leader of the free world. Which means the choices you make effect your kids as well as ours.

No matter what he did his child does not deserve to have seen this. I have a 10 year old my guess is Baron is probably pretty sheltered as is my own child. My child has no idea who Kathy Griffin is so I can absolutely believe that barron trump didn't either. I can only imagine if my daughter saw something similar with somebody holding up a fake head that looks like her father, it would have traumatized her. Nothing the president has done excuses hurting his child like that. Stuff like this is just the Liberals way of deflecting the blame and horrible way the country treats our president and his family. I'm before somebody goes on about how Obama's family suffered their share of criticisms from the media I didn't think that that was okay either. Though let's be honest the Obama girls did not get so much negative attention through their father's eight years in presidency then little Barron Trump has gotten in just a few months

Kids are off limits. Kathy Griffin was beyond out of line. She's a whiny assed pansy that can't handle the repercussions of her actions.

I feel he gets what's he deserves. My children are a bit younger, yet came home visually upset and had nightmares after other students were taking about how their parents would be voting Trump and they couldn't wait for a real Purge night. His kids should have to deal with similar horrors.
