What are your thoughts on boys who take dance and ballet?

Is it common where you live?

Why do people make a big deal out of it that it means they are "Gay" or not masculine?

If it's what they like to do, then awesome!! I see no prob with it. I want my kids to feel like they are free to be who they want to be

I am all for it.

But I was also a dancer for most of my childhood and young adult life.  So I am biased.

As it is, the majority of male dancers are far from pansies.  They are also in incredible shape.

My dd had one boy in her ballet class so I don't think it's common. I think it's great if that's what they want to do.

Idk if it's common around here because neither of my kids are dancers.

But it's pretty badass. There's nothing gay about it, male ballet dancers are extremely strong. They have to be. Female dancers are strong as well.

No, not common and yes, if other kids found out they would be laughed it.  It carries a stigma probably because of the tights.

My son took ballet from the time he was four until he was nine, and he has never regretted it.

I have zero problem with it.  My 3 girls were all dancers, from preschool through high school graduation.  My son wasn't - we didn't have the money for it when he was little.

Dancers work HARD.  And male dancers are almost always in the minority - most are NOT gay.  And condsidering they spend their time around graceful girls and young women, who are in great shape - they usually end up with way more dates than those who don't dance!
