Why would a man want to be a gyn?

Just curious. My gynecologist is a man and I really like him. He's very kind. I hate exposing myself for paps and mammograms but I hated that with my female pcp too when I had her do them.

I just wonder why someone would pick gynecology. Anyone know a gynecologist personally to know the answer?

I don't know the reason but mine is amazing!

He delivered our youngest, did my labioplasty, and gives me paps. He also has a great bedside manner.

I think it's because they value the vagina.

When I was in high school, one of the kids planned to go to med school and he always said his goal was to be a gyn so he could check out vaginas all day. He did end up becoming an ob/gyn but he also came out as gay, so there you go.

I don't know why men choose that particular profession, but I don't think too much of it. I love my male gyn because he takes the time to thoroughly answer my questions and explain things to me and I never get a judgmental vibe from him.

The last pap my pcp did for me, she had a med student there to "watch and learn." I should have refused. He can learn on someone else's exposed bits! But I was too in shock to speak up.

I started seeing this guy a year or so ago because I started having some issues that were beyond a pcp. Wish I had just gone to him from the get-go.

I've wondered too. I personally would never have a male. He doesn't have my bits, what can he possible tell me about periods and pregnancy?

My ob is male and is awesome. I've never asked why he chose ob/gyn.
