If your 15 year old told you he/she hated you

What would you say back to them?

Edit: would you ever tell your child either that you don't love them or that you hate them too?

I told her I loved her but I didn't like her very much at that moment. She was 13 though.

My SD says it to BM a lot. BM always replies "ok" then walks away. It drives SD nuts. BM just doesn't give into her nonsense, she isn't going to play into hurt feelings or anything like that. Eventually SD gets over herself. My DD never said that to me, but she was a super docile teen compared to many others. She still had plenty of attitude, but was always smart with her words.

My youngest went through this stage. I hated it. She'd scream at me that she hated me  and my answer was always 'I still love you I just don't exactly like you much right now either.' I never said I hated her or that I didn't love her, I just told her I didn't care for her present behavior.
