last year we put our dog down, the year before that we put our cat down. my sd has waited until to start asking for another pet. at first, she was asking for puppies. then her dad said he didn't want another dog. so she started looking for cats and then started sending him links to different cats online. she asked him 3 days ago if she could get a cat, he said no because he doesn't want animals. then this morning she asked again if she could get a cat and showed him where she would put everything for the cat in her bedroom. he said ok! she's just manipulating him to get what she wants! she's going to college in September and guess whos gonna take care of the cat? us...AGAIN. all the bullshit about her taking it won't happen.

I'd be all agreeable about it and then ask "So, where will all the cat stuff go in your dorm room?" :)

Sounds lile she begged him, possibly guilted him into it. But manipulation? Only if she doesn't really want the cat for herself and wants for him to have it.
