The Handmaid's Tale...The Book.

Have you read it? Did you like It?

I just finished it..... I'm so utterly disappointed. It was a snooze fest to me. The writing style wasn't great. Which I can look past, but never the less annoying. And it was so prude. I get that it was a religious society, but that book needed some gorey details.

I've had it recommended to me so many times on here. I thought surely it was going to be awesome.

I haven't read the book. The series on Hulu was really good.

It was good but there was no ending...you know? No resolution and you don't really know what ends up happening
Or how it all started in the first place

I read it probably 25 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.

That's the whole point. We don't know what happens to Offred at the end. Also, the "Historical Notes" at the end of the novel mention that the cassette tapes that she recorded her story on were found about 50 years or so later. It hints that she must have gotten out or the tapes would have been destroyed. Not all stories need to have Disney endings. The ambiguity at the end allows the reader to make their own conclusions.

I'm a high school English teacher and I've taught this novel several times in either my Grade 11 or grade 12 classes. The students have always loved the novel.

I read the book about 10 years ago, and I really liked it.  I don't know if Margaret Atwood is everyone's cup of tea.

I liked it, but I get what you are saying. I can see why some would be bored.
