I told my daughter the truth about dad

My daughter is seven years old and I just told her who her real father is. When I was pregnant, I was ashamed of who her real dad was. I ended up telling everyone that out was this other guy that I was dating (we were not having sex at the time I became pregnant). I've been living a lie, until now. I'm ashamed that I lied to my own daughter about who her father is. She took the news better than expected. Please tell me that I did the right thing and that she will not be affected by this.

Of course she will be. She will probably resent you too, as she should.

I felt that it was better to tell her now instead of waiting until she was a teen. I hope that she doesn't resent me.

My son has no clue that dh isn't his real dad. Well I don't think he remembers. His bio dad dropped out of his life completely when ds#1 was under a year. Dh and I got together when ds was 3. Dh is all he knows.

My son is also 7. If he asked, I would tell him. But I am not wrecking his world by telling him about someone who doesn't want him. If you felt this was in her best interest then you did the right thing.

Seven seems young for this type of info. But I'm assuming you had a reason for telling her.

I'm hoping the guy she thought was dad isn't around. She will feel bad.
