So why is it that the girl who encouraged her boyfriend to commit suicide via text is getting involuntary manslaughter but those kids who videotaped the disabled guy going into the pond and didn't help him, didn't call for help aren't charged with anything?

because you are not required to help anybody, even someone dying. and we don't have a lot of laws on the books yet about videoing these things unfortunately, but I'm sure that will change with time.

They had no direct interaction with that man. They didn't encourage or coerce him to do anything. They had nothing to do with it. They should have called 911, but the reality is that it most likely would not have changed the outcome. It's doubtful that authorities could have arrived on scene and coordinated his rescue before he was dead. Probably impossible.
