My kids are going to be letting themselves in the apartment after school. They are 8 and 9. The school is literally next door. They get home at 230 and i get home at 330. How can i help them remember their keys?

I let my kids pick out lanyards they liked and they wore them around their necks or hooked to their bags.

also, if they can call or text when they get inside the apt, that would be a good thing, too

also arrange a 'password' between all of you, in case a stranger should approach them, trying to lure them someplace 'cuz mommy got hurt'...

make sure there's another emergency contact - neighbor, aunt, friend

If you're seriously worried that BOTH of them will lose their keys, are you sure they're ready to be home alone?

Make a rule that when they come into the house, the key is immediately put back into their backpacks. Put the keys on a clip so they can attach it to their backpacks.

Put a note in the inside doorknob that says KEY, so they see it on their way out.

Ex dh is within the same complex. He suggested that the kids come to his place but they are not comfortable with that..(long story)

Lanyards or maybe a caribeaner that clips the keys inside a backpack. Make sure they're stuff is ready to go the night before, including their keys.
