Seriously considering getting rid of the house phone.

We do still have a house phone, mainly because my cell phone doesn't work way out here in the boonies. But I am so ready to get rid of a phone and just have folks use Messenger to contact me here at home.

Reason.... the phone going off every $%^&#$^$^w$^&*@# minute with scam artists. We are on the "no-call" list, but that is useless.

As I mentioned, I'm out here in the boonies. The amount of people who have our prefix is less than 300. I used our number for RSVP's to my daughter and son-in-law's upcoming reception. So, when I get a call from our prefix, I figure it's one of our neighbors calling to respond.

But noooooo.... Just got a call from Christy who WOULD NOT SHUT HER MOUTH FOR ONE MOMENT about me qualifying for a low interest loan. When I started shouting at her, she hung up. So I called the number back...yep... a disconnected number.

How the hell do they even get by with that? I don't know if Verizon can do anything about it or not, but damn this is so annoying.

I haven't had a house phone since I've lived on my own. My grandparents are the only ones I know who still have one, lol.

Lol, We gave up our house phone a while ago. Same thing as you, ringing all day long with sales calls! Drove me nuts!

We haven't had one in several years. Pretty much everyone I know that does have one only does so because of a bundle price from the cable company.

Oh yes, we only have a landline because it was cheaper in the bundle.

Most people I know who have one unplug it. 99% of all incoming calls to my home are scam calls.

Cell service is sketchy at my house for incoming and outgoing calls so I still use one for calling family and friends if I actually want to be heard.

I've been sworn at, had my life threatened, have been threatened to have the police called on me from these scam callers. They are fucking crazy.

I will never get rid of mine even though 90% of calls are solicitors.  My kids do not have cell phones and this is the only way I can keep it that way.  Other reason is it is part of my bundle so it doesn't cost me anything extra to keep.

It's a computer program. Verizon can't do anything.

We haven't had a landline in over a decade, but we've also never lived anywhere that had spotty cell service. I didn't realize there were places that still have that issue.

Change the number and see how it goes.

The main reason why I want to keep my house phone is because of my mom... She's 83 and blind and wouldn't be able to message me. I do like to talk with her.

Other than that, with everyone else I actually want to talk to... I can message or video chat.

I don't know... Maybe after the reception, I'll get rid of it.
