But I'm just used to doing my birthday my own way....

He asked if he could take me out but I said "no thanks" I'd mAde plans for dinner theatre with our kids.

We have been married 5 years and the birthday situation hasnt gone well.

Year one
I asked him two weeks in advance to switch weekends with BM. He didn't and she never came to get his kids. We waited hours for a relative of his to babysit.

Year two
I asked him to take his kids and our infant off my hands so that I could have a day to myself. It took him 2 hours to get ready. I ended up leaving the house to start my childfree day.

Year three
I asked him to take the kids to ballet for me. That morning he showed out and we got into a huge fight. He shoved me.

Since then I've consistently gotten away from him on my special days. Now he wants back in but I'm done.

I graduated from college this past Spring and I didn't give him a ticket.

Why? I'm good. I just know we need not be together all of the time.

The graduation was going to be a big day for me and my kids.

I didn't want him there.

Sounds like you two don't get a long and it's all about you.
Why are you still together then???

And this is the man you are married to? Sounds miserable.

It's not about you though. It's about the whole family. It's not a fufilling relationship to him. He's growing as a person and you are stuck. He needs to find a woman who will grow with him, not away from him.
