Slippery slopes. S/O

This a spin off the post about Boston approving a permit for a white supremacist really.

What concepts or societal issues that are positive at first glance are you worried about becoming a slippery slope into something bad or inappropriate?

It can be anything.

I'll share mine.
First and foremost I will say that I have no issues with any person identifying as a different or non gender. I do support transgender rights.

But I often wonder. What other identities are going to become the norm?
Species identities? If a person identifies as a animal, do we support and accept everything that comes with that? Such as using the public outdoors as a bathroom or going across streets into traffic and not be liable for an accident that may cause.

Or age identities? Should we allow a person that identifies as a 9 yo into a 4th grade class?

What concepts or realities that are seemingly a step in the right direction you're worried go too far.

Same as this rally. Has freedom of speech and freedom of assembly gone too far?

There's a lot of crazy out there. Like that bill in California to make it illegal to use the wrong pronoun with the elderly.

As someone who has worked in nursing homes and skilled nursing facilities for seniors, that would be a nightmare. I would use the pronoun that a patient wanted. But seriously fines and jail time if I fuck up? Ouch.

California should seriously just secede already.

Many things can lead to slippery slopes. Pretty much anything that someone says, "It should be illegal ..." puts you on a slippery slope. Then there are things like the wording in the laws in Arizona that makes it so that even a parent changing a baby's diaper can be charged with molestation.

I'd rather they wait two years, so my brother can move out, first. That's whiten his youngest turns 18 and they can all move to another state. Custody issues.

It is simply the wording of the law. It simply states that it is a crime to knowingly touch the genitals or anus of a child. There's no requirement for showing a cause to harm or sexual interest.

Way to misrepresent what that says. It clearly says if you repeatedly and purposely misgender someone in a long term care facility. You should have a serious consequence if you purposely mistreat a vulnerable person in your care, especially a medical professional.

This bill isn't about making a mistake, it states that it's referring to repeatedly and purposely misgendering someone in a long term care facility. Those people are vulnerable and should not be mistreated by their caregivers.

I'm almost sure that it's along the same lines as verbal harassment or assault; refusing to use appropriate pronouns can cause a lot of dysphoria for a trans person and is very disrespectful. Too many people refuse to accept trans people and would use the wrong pronoun intentionally, which causes mental anguish for the person
