Dad said no

I wrote the other post about "cultural differences." My dad hates my bf because he is French.

My bf is trying to improve relations between my parents and himself. He knows how important it is to me. Plus we have a baby on the way.

I guess he asked my father if he could marry me and my dad said "no, but thanks for asking!"

Has this happened to anyone else?

Good thing you're not property that can be given away.

Tell your bf that its not 1918 and you don't need dad's permission to marry.

I love him so much or else I wouldn't.

Quoting Anonymous 3: Don't get married just because you got knocked up.

It's true, why should she shut up?

Quoting Anonymous 3: Oh shut the hell up!

He knows that, he was just trying to get on dad's good side by asking.

You don't need your dad's permission to marry anyone.  It's a nice thought to ask for a blessing, but don't let your father run your life.

I wouldn't marry a guy who asked my Dad for "permission".
