How long did YOU wait? Did it work out in the end?

We eloped after 5 months. Been married almost 9 years.

There's no universal set time. I got engaged 3 months after I started dating my husband. We've been married for 21 years. I know people who dated for years, got married and then it didn't work out.

Depends on the relationship. We waited 15 months and married a little over a year after we got engaged.

Dated exclusively for 3 years.  Engaged for 1 year after that.  Married 24 years - worked out great.

I think it completely depends. My husband and I never dated. We sat in my kitchen of my parent's apartment 3 times and talked and agreed to get married the 3rd time. Still married.

It all depends on the couple. My grandparents were married 6 weeks after their first date. He proposed on that date. They were married for 51 years.

DH and I were a little slower. We were engaged at 4.5 months, married at 15.5 months. We've been married for 23 years.

My ex fiancé waited 3 years to propose. I said yes, but we broke up 2 years later before we ever got married.

I'm in a new relationship for the past year and a half, he hasn't hinted on asking anytime soon. I'm in no hurry either, but I do know I want to spend the rest of my life with him.

I think anything under a year is really fast, but every couple is obviously different. We were together for six years before we got engaged and eight years before we got married.

We were on and off for 5 years. Hadn't even said we were together in at least 2 years when my husband decided we should get married. Got married 6 weeks later. That was 14 years ago. Once someone in my husband's family decided to marry it usually takes place between 6 weeks and 4 months later.
