Are hate crime charges more harsh than general charges?.. A story about a boy being pushed of a picnic table with a rope around his neck cause Injury... He was injured and the family is pressing charges.... Obviously there are gojng to be change yes that's horrible... But commenters are saying no they need to be charged with a hate crime because the boy was biracial"...

Yes. If it was done because he was biracial (which it obviously was), then it should be a hate crime.

OK.. But if they determine it was a hate crime does that make the charge harasher?

It should be a hate charge. It was an attempted lynching, and they called the boy racial epithets before trying to murder him.

Fine n dandy... But do you know if hate crime gets harsher punishment..instead of just charging them with attempt.attempted murder or something...

Yes, enhanced charges have enhanced sentences.

Yes, a hate crime carries a much harsher sentence. 

And that boy was lynched. If you don't see how that was racially motivated, you are an idiot.

I believe the hate crime is an additional charge and can make his sentencing harsher.
