Paying for a membership

For a long time now we've alternated renewing our Sam's Club membership with my mother-in-law. She'll cover it one year, we'll cover it the next. We're all on the same membership and we all use it.

Lately she's been insinuating that we should always pay and include her on the membership because we use it more.

I think that's ridiculous. No matter how infrequently she uses it (about twice a month) she would still have to pay the same amount for a membership. I'm thinking about just paying for us and taking her off the account. If she wants us to pay for it every year we will but she won't be on the account.

I don't care if that's petty.

I pay for a membership and often take friends/family as a favor.
VERY PETTY.

You're right.

I'd consider taking her along every once in awhile if you drop her. Not more than once every month or two though.

This: plus I don't have one close enough to me to make it worth it, but many of my friends always offer to take me no questions asked!

Is it really worth ruining a relationship or creating friction over a freaking Sam's Club membership? Call it her birthday gift or Christmas gift if you must, but don't blow this out of proportion.

Why should we? It's her year to pay.
