Well, that's because they've had way more kids than they could afford. When I was in the military, it was just dh and I and we lived comfortably. Very comfortably. When we decided to have kids, I got out.

That's because much of of the military's pay and benefits aren't factored in. The only military members who truly need assistance are the ones having kids they can't afford.

Yep. It's also important to not have a gaggle of kids until you can afford it.

Education is still over rated in certain aspects. My city is holding a job hiring event this morning and corporations are now starting to focus more on things other than the primary focus being education level.
