How old is he and how long was he actively trying?

After dealing with my ex-husband and his family I am a firm believer every illegal that was brought here before their 18th birthday should start the process as soon as they turn 18 no ifs ands or butts.

No, I didn't know my ex and his family were here illegally until the birth of our son and all hell broke loose when we went to try to get married.

He was 31. He has never been here illegally. He came over legally. He has renewed his green card when he needed to (every 10 years). He didn't renew this time and instead applied for citizenship. The process took about 6 months.
