I just got a call that my ds refused to say the pledge or put his hand over his heart. he stood there and stayed quiet while the other kids said it, he didn't disrupt anyone. The principal told me that he told her he wasn't going to say the pledge anymore and when asked why he told her it was because of how "mommy and her family are treated" which is why I was called because the principal was confused by his statement, and he has time out at recess. I'm native, I grew up on a reservation, we went home to see my grandma before she passed away last week and ds saw how I grew up for the first time(usually my family comes to see us). I had no idea he thought that way, he didn't say anything after we left and just acted like everything was normal. he's 6, I honestly didn't think he would be thinking like that this young.

I honestly don't even know what to say to him. I bow my head in respect for people around me during that sort of stuff but he's never seen me do it and he doesn't watch the news with me either.

I'm not sure either. I didn't think he should get in trouble for it. He wasn't being rude.
