Kneeling during the national anthem

I keep seeing people on both sides of the fence is posting this all over Facebook and honestly I really don't see the big deal. In my opinion it is disrespectful but at the same time there's so much going on in this world that I really don't see why people are fixating on this. My opinion is that yes it is disrespectful, it is social convention in our country to stand during the national anthem and remove your hat to show respect. Doing the opposite is showing disrespect. But at the same time the first amendment allows these people to kneel during the national anthem if they want to (assuming that their contracts allow them to do that). And if you don't like, it you are perfectly allowed to say that they are disrespectful assholes. You are also allowed to boycott the football team; don't buy their merchandise, don't buy tickets to the game, don't watch the game on TV. If enough people do that the NFL team managers may decide to start putting it in their players contracts that they must stand during the national anthem.

I think we need to stop taking celebrity and sports stars opinions so seriously. These are not people whose opinions have any consequence ( any more than any other one person). They are millionaires that are paid money to play football. That is it. They are there for our entertainment and amusement. They are not there to give their opinions, who really cares what their opinions are anyway?

I see nothing disrespectful about peacefully kneeling but I don't give a shit about anthems or flags.

You don't have to value their opinion. You don't get to deny them an opinion.

They have every right to their opinion.  Claiming injustice and then beating your wife/GF is hypocritical.
