Its nice not to have to get out of the car to go get him. I pick up my 9 yr old(different school) then i park about a block away from his school and she goes to get him and walks back with him to the car.

Sounds like a good idea to me! I'd do the same. My dd just turned 9 and she puts cartoons on for her little brother while she gets ready for school in the morning so I don't have to get up

When my oldest was 9 she got dd off the bus (she was 4) and they'd go inside and wait until I got home from work about 40 minutes later!

My kids walk up to me.  I love it and it makes them feel independent.

I don't see an issue with it.

That was always our deal in this house.  I drive.  They fetch.  Of course now that they drive too, they still fetch more often than not.

In this house, it was also always the job of the shortest person to vacuum under the dining room table.  I really didn't plan that one out very well.

Don't text while driving.

Yep, that's how it worked here when my 2 younger ones went to the same school. They'd walk home together from the bus stop.
