If you know ANYTHING about homeowners insurance....

My 10 year old son brought a metal paint can in the house and set it on the wood burning stove that was going. I really was not looking because I was making dinner. Long story short the can exploded and hot, boiling pain went everywhere..... the off white Berber carpets.... the custom mirror....several walls, the ceiling, the actual wood burning stove....one of the leather couches.... the kitchen chairs.... the hardwoods.... some artwork.... the flat screen.....

Do you think homeowners insurance covers something like this????

I can't even imagine that mess. I'd probably cry. I'd give them a call and find out.

Ugh...wow, I'm so sorry. Not helpful here but I don't think ours would cover an accident like this. Take photos though and bring them in and ask. Good luck.

ps: did you insure any of the damaged stuff separately? Like I have my art, Persian rugs and rings/jewelry insured separate of the house for fire, flooding, etc.

Yes it should. You will be responsible for the deductible and then they will either drop you or significantly raise your rates

I would guesstimate that there is at least $15,000 in damage so....

Eek what a disaster, I know he has to feel terrible about it. At least it didn't get on anyone though.

Yikes. Call them to come out they will probably want to talk to your son as well. But accidents do happen. That’s the reason for the insurance

Good luck but also have fun picking out new furniture and probably a new wood stove
