in this family it's just a reason for family to get together. me personally i'd be totally fine with skipping it.

Because it's a tradition that's embedded into American culture. Not everyone does celebrate btw.

Because I enjoy stuffing my face and it is the one day that it’s not frowned upon. Plus we get to see family

It's more of a family holiday than traditional for us.

I say let people enjoy whatever holidays they want, no explanation needed.
