Is it ok to fight dirty?

I learned recently that during the Crusades the European knights had some of the best chain mail and plate armor. However, their groin armor was made of light leather and cloth to make it easier to ride horses. The European knights had a practice of not striking the groin out of mutual honor. The Ottomans however didn't share that mentality.

Once they realized the knight's crotch weakness they immediately found a soft spot to insert their spears and scimitars into. This led to the Ottoman victory of multiple important battles. Some argue that it wasn't a fair way to fight, but quite effective.

In a fight anything goes. If you are going to war, you win by any means necessary.

This. Were these scientists volunteers? Or victims?

Swords and spears would work best if you are trying to gouge the groin or dick/ball area

I bet they volunteered so they could do a study afterwards.

That is some serious dedication. It's no wonder that the Ottoman won so often.

That's pretty much what I read. The rest of the knights were heavily clad in armor and spears/swords would glance off or be unable to penetrate the metal. But when the Ottoman's blades managed to slip their way between a knight's legs, the knight's genitals yielded right away allowing the blade in.
