I survived working Black Friday.

I work at a department store. Jewelry counter.

We opened yesterday on Thanksgiving and as soon as the doors opened, there was a stampede of people. The jewelry counter was SURROUNDED by a mob. We're upstairs and the floor is shaking. Everyone thinks they're first in line. People were trying to ring up random crap at the jewelry counter because the other lines are long and they don't want to wait in line. Sorry fine jewelry only.

Children are trying to climb over the jewelry counters. Licking the glass on the display cases. I'm trying to help a guy pick out an engagement ring and some random woman stood right next to him and stuck her hand out in front of him and started clicking her fingernails on the counter to, I guess, let us know that she's waiting and wants him to hurry up.

Two elderly ladies were pushed out of the way to get to the employee who was passing out a limited number of coupons. Said employee was pinched, shoved, had her shirt yanked, hair grabbed and arms pulled. It was one coupon per person and people were demanding that their children be given coupons to get more.

A drunk woman passed out in one of the fitting rooms.

Myself and a manager were told to "watch out later tonight" when a customer was told that he couldn't substitute a Citizen watch for the price of a Seiko watch because we sold out of the one in the ad. He wanted a $400 watch for $200. No.

But, we're just little employees there to be everyone's punching bags. LMFAO!!! I wasn't sure if we were going to come out alive but we did. Anyone else with funny or crazy Black Friday stories?

It kinda was. I told one of my co-workers that we were going to be slaughtered when we first saw the stampede coming in. Lol

I think that is nuts. I am so glad I don't live by nutso people. I've been black Friday shopping for years and never seen craziness.

Well, that's what it's called. It's okay if it's not good enough.

That sounds like what I experienced the one and only time I went shopping on Black Friday. I feared for my safety. Lol

Honestly, I think one of the things that shocks me the most is the number of people who don't expect there to be lines on Black Friday. Really? You didn't see a packed parking lot when you walked in? You didn't see a packed store? You didn't know that Black Friday was going to be very busy?

I don't doubt it for a second. People are insane when there are sales like that.
