Called to principals office...

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post
I'm a teacher and the principal called me in today. He did not agree with me not allowing a student to go on a field trip today. The student went AWOL yesterday, and I did not feel comfortable sending him on this trip after that. I did not go on the trip. I am his special education teacher.

The principal said the trip isn't a reward or punishment, and I should have just sent him. What do you think?

He ran outside and it took 2 aides to catch him and bring him back.

Quoting Anonymous 54: Did the aids find him? That isn’t AWOL. He got upset and left the room.

You have a right to be concern, but I don’t think taking the trip away is the right thing. An aid should of been assigned to him for the trip. Or a parent asked to go.

Quoting Anonymous 1: He took off yesterday. -Ran out of my classroom. The aides had to run after him. I was worried that he'd run off on the field trip.

Quoting Lunarprancer:

Is it your call? What do you mean that he went AWOL and where you afraid he would get lost or something?
