I'm exhausted. I am emotionally drained and sitting in the bathtub crying into a glass of wine while dd watches a movie.

I'm not a cps worker, I work with low income families. Today I:

-tried to talk some sense into a woman whose
FOUR year old dd was just diagnosed with chlamydia.
-had to take an 8 year old and his mom to the er because mom lost his only inhaler and he was having a bad asthma attack.
-listened to a 3 year old tell me how his mommy and her new boyfriend were fighting and now mommy has bruises on her face and cried all weekend. Only to have mom yell at me and tell me to mind mu own damn business when I asked if she was ok.

I come in Monday mornings and see these kids devour their breakfast like they haven't eaten all weekend. And I know some of.them haven't.

Today was just hard... every day gets a little harder honestly. I love being a social worker but I know this side of it is not for me. I just can't do it anymore. My background is peoole with disabilities and its time to go back to that. I never left that job in heart broken tears.

I can't blame you. I expect that job has a high turnover. Very sad :(

I understand it's hard for you, but maybe those kids need someone like you who actually cares.

My best friend is a social worker. It is a tough career path. It takes a special person to do it. Bless you.

Um, no one has removed a four year old with chlamydia from his parents?

I have a friend who is a cps social worker. There's no way in hell I could ever do that. I don't know how more of you don't have a nervous breakdown on a daily basis.
