Ds12 chose not to help his siblings do the dishes. So he handed his phone and Xbox over to me and went to bed is fast asleep at 730. 😂

He is not sick. I’m guessing just tried. He went to school, got picked early for a orthodontist appt, came home and all I had to say was don’t forget you owe me from yesterday. Pick two chores. And he did them without a fight and got his stuff back.

It has taken us a long time to even get to this point. He is 12 but immature. We have been working hard and it is so nice to see him act this way. Like I said I’m one of my replies, U have to understand the individual child. He was not being disrespectful. Some of u mentioned to watch out this isn’t a pattern, thank you for your input. Right now things have turned a corner and I am happy.

Fail.

Children shouldn't be given the option to be disobedient

If my kid did that, I’d be chasing her down with a thermometer. And it would show a fever... ;)

Sounds like he just needed sleep. I'd give him an extra chore tomorrow and give the stuff back.

I find it hard to see this as a fail. He knew the consequences of his decision and took responsibility. He didn't get lippy or combative he was tired so he chose to punish himself and went to bed. Op should get a gold star for consistancy
