Are small weddings tacky?

Are backyard receptions "tacky".

We are getting married in church and our reception is in our backyard. We are having a small wedding, only 30 people. It isn't because we are "poor", we just don't want a huge wedding. We don't like the idea of eloping either. This a 2nd marriage for both of us. I'm widowed my late husband passed away in an accident, he lost his late wife to cancer. We invited our parents, our children will be there obviously ,our siblings & our siblings spouses. We want the reception at the house because well, we want to be able to say we had our wedding receiption here since this is our "forever" home, we have 0 intention of selling.

My aunt who only really talks to me during the holidays is "LIVID" and "offended" that we don't invite our extended family members...like her. She said we are tacky and probably poor and if that's the case she'd "forgive us."

Do you think backyard receptions are tacky? Are small weddings tacky?

I don’t think so, we went to the courthouse with six people and had our “reception” in a park with 20. Congrats on your wedding!

No, they aren't.  Not in general.

Of course, ANY wedding, big or small, can be "tacky."

You'rs sounds wonderful.  Congratuations.

IRL they're not, but you'll get the bitches in this group saying they are.

No, ours was a backyard wedding, ceremony and reception. Almost 30 years later we can still walk out to the exact spot, I love it.

Nope I think it’s Great!

We are eloping and then plan to come back and have a massive party. We are thinking of combining reception parties with my friend who is also eloping.

No, absolutely not.

Mine was small, but very expensive.

The size and cost of the wedding, don’t make the marriage

Your wedding day should be special to you. Your ideas sound great. Don’t worry about the biter aunt and enjoy your day.
