It absolutely stands for racism, William Porcher Miles designed it to stand for the "superiority" of the white race and white's "rights" to own blacks as slaves.

I've never owned one because I've never had a connection to the Confederacy in any way.

No but a lot around me do. Being in the south it's not seen as racist here by black or white people.
