I blew the grocery budget.

I do a monthly grocery budget, but this month I've already spent about 80% of it. Could you feed a family of four through the rest of the month on $100? What would you buy? We eat about 10 meals a week at home.
I'll probably go over but I'm trying to at least cut back so I don't greatly exceed it.

I feed 5 off $400/month.

Are you implying that you've spent $400 of your $500 budget in 11 days??

Lots of whole grains, beans and potatoes. Use meat for flavor and not the main part of the meal. Use veggies to add some nutrients and limit fruit. No processed, prepackaged stuff. That will get you through.

Something close to that, yes. Those aren't exact numbers and today is the 12th.

Geez you guys eat a lot if you ran out of all that money so fast. I make sure I look for coupons and stuff. I usually buy store brand stuff, except for my Gluten free stuff I eat. Eating gluten free and eating healthy gets so expensive it's ridiculous.

That's great that you were able to do that! What sort of things did you eat?

Thanks.

Why would you limit fruit? Is it expensive where you live? Or just not filling enough?

My husband is a diabetic so I could not feed us all on 100 for over 2 weeks.

I guess it would depend on what food items you have in your.  I'm sure all the cupboards, drawers, pantry, fridge, freezers have food supply in them.
