Texas has shut down...

I'm sure by now everybody up north is laughing at us for shutting down parts of Texas due to the ice. You're right it is pretty funny, however it's also dangerous. Case in point, I live in a second floor apartment, went outside to take my dog to pee and stepped on ice, slid on my butt down the stairs to the landing. My ass was covered with ice, I think I bruised my tailbone and I officially can't sit comfortably now. Go me! Please laugh, point fingers, whatever you need to do! It's kind of hilarious.

It happens in places that just aren’t set up for ice and snow.

I slid down a flight of stairs in front of the entire school my senior year of HS.

I feel your pain, lol. Ice can be a bitch to navigate!

Yup, like us. We can take a hurricane with the best of them but a half inch of ice on the streets makes us go crazy. I'm not leaving the house all day. My butt will thank me.

I live in SA and think it’s crazy how they closed down everything... but I am originally from Colorado where snow days and closing things down for the weather are almost unheard of. But Texas doesn’t have the means to deal with the ice or snow so I totally get it. I wish they didn’t close the school down though we literally live right behind it and the majority of kids who go there live within 6 blocks of the school.

I used to carpool w my brother to work. I saw him pull up one morning, locked the door and walked to car... and slipped on the icy driveway. He had been looking at his phone and didn't even know I'd come out of the house until he saw my feet above the hood of his car lol

Schools are closed here due to temps. I'm in Missouri.

I'm sure folks further north would think its ridiculous.

It really is! I stepped outside to make sure the ice wasn't bad, looked at the street but didn't bother to look at my stairs.

It makes sense. It's better everyone stay home than try to drive and walk on the ice. I hope you heal quickly.

I'm in Arkansas and it's the same here sometimes. My kids are home today because of the roads but we have ALOT of country gravel roads in our district. The schools started this year sending home work for them to do on snow days so they don't get behind and have to make up a lot of days. They sent them home last week. I told my kids they have a free morning but after lunch they have to do their work packet. Stay safe and warm down there.

I did it when dh and I first got married. The pathetic thing is I didn't even have any ice to blame it on. 😑
