My 8 mo old sucks baby food off the spoon. Is that normal? Also he won't eat table foods. I have tried giving him some and he throws himself back. Should i lay off foods?

Sucking food off the spoon indicates that he hasn't outgrown the tongue thrust reflex. Throwing himself back, away from table food either indicates a disinterest in the food, or being full.

It sounds to me like he's not quite ready for solids yet. I'd definitely lay off the table food. How is his pincer grip? Can he pinch and pick up a cheerio or other item? My kids loved cheerios, Gerber puffs, and/or goldfish crackers. I'd hold off on the cheerios and goldfish, but he might like the puffs.
