Huge milestone, I broke down and cried!

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post

My 4 year old son says very little, he is in Speech Therapy, Sensory Therapy, Behavior Therapy.  What few words he does say, people seldom understand him, which leads to him getting frustrated and he reacts by hitting himself.

Tonight I told him to go upstairs and play in his room, I said, "see you later alligator".  He said, "I not alligator, I Gabriel".

I'm tearing up typing this.  We are making headway!!! I'm so happy!

Aw, that is a great story!  Did your son use sign language?  My son has been taught sign language and it was going well for a while, now, he refuses to use it.

Quoting Dzyre1115: I completely understand, as a matter of fact it was a mother here and her food porn, posting a picture of a cupcake that prompted my son to say that word for the first time, and clearly. It was an amazing moment. Congratulations

Stop crying, you are doing a great job. Gabriel just showed you proof of that

Quoting Anonymous 1:

Thank you!  I feel like I"m failing every day, you know, because I spend an hour in the corner, crying in the fetal positon.  LOL

Quoting Sassy762: Thats great. Whatever you are doing.....is working

That is awesome. My oldest son is named Gabriel and had to have speech therapy as well.

My son is 14 now, full blown teenager. So sometimes I do wish he would stop telling me about the pros and cons of iPhone and Android 😂. You’ll be there soon, go Gabriel! Love his name, BTW!

Quoting Anonymous 1:

It really is.  All of my friends say I will be telling him to stop talking one day, but I doubt that will ever happen, I want to hear him all the time!

Quoting momto2boys973: I can relate! My oldest also had speech issues. Hearing that little voice is a blessing! 😊

Awesome for Gabriel! My daughter is Autistic and was non-verbal for a while. I cannot express how much speech therapy helps!
