What kind of mother would I be?

A few posts in a row today reminded me that I used to say this to my kids sometimes.

"What kind of mother would I be if I didn't check your homework?"

"What kind of mother would I be if I let you talk like that?"

"What kind of mother doesn't check where her kids are  going and with who?"

It was a handy argument-ender.  Just thought I'd share.

From what I seem to remember seeing here on Cafe Mom, you are an excellent, caring mom.

You have asked all those questions because you are a caring mom.

Thanks. My Mom and Dad made it easy. Most of the time I just have to do what did. 😀

😂 ODS tells me ALL THE TIME that his friend’s moms don’t care if they talk in class, have to redo their homework, don’t listen to the teacher, don’t eat vegetables etc. My response is “it’s so tough to have the meanest mom in the bunch.” He laughs because he knows we have pretty lax rules about tons of stuff where his friend’s parents are stricter.

I do the same by the way.  Children need rules, direction, rewards, consequences, understand respect, encouragement and all the things our parents did, assuming our parents were good ones.
