My husband said I look like I've never been out to eat when I do this

We had Mexican for lunch and we both had leftovers. I asked for a to go box and put it all in one box plus the leftover chips. I'll eat all this later and don't like to waste perfectly good food. Am I weird?

No it isn't weird.

I get embarrassed when my mom does it. Especially when she asks for more just to take home. I don't know why but things like that embarrass me. It's really not a big deal.

Nope.

It's usually my spouse that will save everything and I'm the one saying 'oh, it's okay, leave that'.

Your husband is weird.

Why would you want them to just go in the trash when you can take them home?

Why would you not take lefters home?  We always do.  Unless you're in Japan where it is apparently not done.

I would have taken home my leftovers.  I don't see anything wrong with you taking home the "chips" either.  The restaurant is just going to throw them away.

It's not like they can give those chips to another table. I'd rather take them home than have them go in the trash.

I do the same. The restaurant is going to throw it away. I have a teenage boy. It will get eaten in my house. I'd rather not waste food if someone will eat it.
